𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙄 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙧?

You think I’m joking don’t you, but I’m not, I’m being deadly serious!

Earlier this year Dai & I had tickets to see a Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers tribute act at the local theatre and being daring I decided for the first time in my life I’d wear the shortest hemline I’d ever attempted.

Coming from a background of being told I was fat and being strictly prohibited from wearing anything higher than mid-calf I thought ‘what the heck’ and stepped out in style.

What happened next left us with a night to remember!

Now, I’m a massive Dolly Parton fan as everyone knows but I hadn’t quite banked on my presence significantly lowering the average age of the audience.

On top of that I was just about to find out many men over 60 can’t seem to cope with seeing a bit of leg….

After the first handful of men had gawped and their tightly-clutching-partners shot me the stink eye Dai and I decided it was time to have a little fun!

From now on when I felt the gaze of a male onlooker, I’d cheekily give him a wink, whilst if Dai caught the disapproving looks of the spouses he’d give them a friendly nod!

The scene soon turned more comical as we witnessed fella’s tripping up the stairs and being dragged along by their anxious other halves, whilst we dug each other in the ribs and silently rocked with laughter!

No, I didn’t set out to cause a scene, I set out that evening to liberate myself of past conditioning — thank God my amazing man saw the funny side of it and as a team we met and rose above the assumptions and disapproval of the masses!

I look back at this time with much humour and know that there’s no fun in fitting in when you are born to stand out!

Oh yes and this was the offending outfit!
